The POWERNET Team had a member on the ITES contract.
 

  •      - CYBER SECURITY: Supporting C&A activities for US ARMY/CIA/FBI/DNI/NSA support was through TS for System Certification and Accreditation performing ISSE and Security Control Assessment. Provide all aspects of C&A following NIST 1253 Directives.
  •      - System Engineering and Network Engineering solutions. Provided Defense in Depth through Malware Analysis/CND Analysis/Security Control Assessment and Penetration Testing as well we provided the agency all facets of information Technology Services, and assist with Network/IA/Systems Engineering. Work with the customer to provide and maintain SLA's for Enterprise Services to include GROUNDBREAKER.

Summary of Work Provided:
 

  •      - Cyber Security / IT Security: OCSO (Organizational Computer Security Officer) for two NASA directorates and managed tasks between Risk Management Team and System Admins.  Identified and assessed IT security risk/exposure on new and existing infrastructure; investigate and recommend appropriate corrective actions for IT security incidents. Implement security standards, procedures and guidelines for multiple platforms and diverse systems environments. Provided cutting-edge, innovative solutions for IT network security, while maintaining security policies, controls and compliance. Ensure security plans are in place; assist in decision-making process regarding firewall exceptions. Provides expert technical support required for the development of IT security plans in conformance with National Institute of Standards of Technology (NIST), and Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA) requirements.
    •      + Provided cutting-edge, innovative solutions for IT network security, while maintaining security policies, controls and compliance. Ensure security plans are in place; assist in decision-making process regarding firewall exceptions. Provides expert technical support required for the development of IT security plans in conformance with Office of Management and Budget (OMB), National Institute of Standards of Technology (NIST), and Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA) requirements.
    •      + Developed long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities in the normal day to day service of the OSCO.  Lead the implementation of security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities, when tasked by OSCO. Coordinated the computer forensics, implementation of security programs created by the OCIO office and establishes vulnerability reporting criteria to report back to them via the OSCO. Developed, reviewed and evaluated security incident response policies and issues when websites were attacked as part of my normal duties.  Then identified the changes needed based on new security technologies or threats to keep applications safe.
       
  •      - Application & Web Development Services:  Manage budget and a 12-member developer team. Provide cradle-to-grave oversight of software project management, leading the research, design, development, documentation, testing and rollout of enterprise applications. Defined the requirements and developed schedules and milestones, administered control of records and met strategic organizational goals. Management of a web & application development team to include developers, business analyst, project managers and communication specialists.   This position included planning and recommending acquisition of new software applications or devising ways to apply existing system resources to additional operations.
    •      + Managed a team supporting NASA contract, including budgeting, Amazon Cloud, Linux, Windows, performance reviews and CRM.
    •      + Created Rough Order of Magnitude (ROMs) to establish project scheduling that produces the bid for projects. Established work intake prioritization and ROI for all team projects. Team building and leadership exercises to established innovative IT initiatives to reduce cost.

    •      + Continual testing and implements of cyber security in application development and updated to ensure awareness and compliance.  Once vulnerabilities were located, I recommended and briefed mitigation or other countermeasures to key officials on information and evidence gathered through investigations and examinations.   Once mitigated I relooked at the designs, retested, and implements new computer forensic methods and procedures, such as recoding to block SQL injection.
       
  •      - Project Management:  Participate and contribute in planning, organizing and developing projects. Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities while managing day-to-day operational aspects of each project and scope. ODIN

The POWERNET Team had a member on the ODIN contract at NASA worked in the Cyber Security and built security stance from almost none to fully secured for a plant. Work within IA guidelines in accordance with DoD standards.
 

  •      - Network/Systems Operation and Maintenance: Worked in field for the past 8 years. In charge of infrastructure operation and maintenance for large NASA contract, build new systems and patching monthly to insure information is protected.
  •      - Enterprise Design and Integration: Redesigned and upgraded multiple Postfix servers for email delivery with NASA, designed and built new systems for several locations.
  •      - IT Education and Training: Taught  IT and Networking classes and conducted training on custom software with UAI to end users at their location.
  •      - IT Supply Chain Management: Responsible for vendor relations with large plant. Negotiated deals for hardware and software for on site use. Responsible for evaluating software and hardware products for usability with existing systems.
